MY HEALING STORY I have been a natural "healer" all of my life. Even as a young child, I was aware that I had this "gift" and that energy poured through my hands. Babies would stop crying when I held them, sick and injured animals would get well when I placed my hands on them. And as I grew into adulthood, friends and co-workers would feel drawn to come to me for counsel with their personal problems, and would tell me that that they felt such a sense of "peace" whenever they talked to me. But it wasn't until I had an incurable health challenge of my own that I began to really explore and study various types of "healing". The summer after I graduated from high school, I was at a picnic, playing with friends at a lovely park overlooking Lake Michigan. I had always enjoyed sports when I was in high school and was athletic by nature. While playing a game of dodge-ball with friends at the park that day, a freak mishap occurred. As I dodged the ball, I ran up against the wooden barrier fence at the edge of the cliff above the shoreline and the fence gave way! I literally fell head-first over the edge of the cliff, a fall of about 15 feet, and landed on my head on the sandy beach below. The fall knocked me completely unconscious. By the time friends and family made their way down to me, I was beginning to regain consciousness, but I was totally disoriented and suffered brief amnesia. I was in terrible pain and I had lost the feeling in both arms! To make a long story short, after visits to the hospital, numerous X-rays, and doctor visits to osteopaths where I received painful treatments on a device that I called the "electronic RACK" (like the ancient instrument of torture), it was discovered that I had PERMANENTLY injured my neck and spine! Through the osteopathic treatments of literally "pulling" apart my spine via the "rack", the feeling returned to my arms. However, I still had several compressed vertebrae, two reversed curves in my neck and back, nerve and tissue-damage, and I was in tremendous PAIN. The doctors told me that my condition was "incurable". There was nothing they could do to "fix" the damage, not even surgery. They would supply me with prescription "pain-killers", but that was all that modern medicine could do for me. The doctors told me the condition was "permanent" and that I would simply have to live with it and with "chronic pain" for the rest of my life pretty hard to swallow for an 18-year old who had always been in perfect health and active in sports! And so I DID live in pain and on pain-killers for many years, along with weekly sessions with chiropractors and deep tissue massage therapists, to help relieve the pain and tension in my neck and back. But these sessions only provided momentary relief. Within hours, or at most a couple of days, the pain and tension always returned! Somewhere, somehow along my life's journey, I got really "fed up" with this state of affairs, constant pain and prescription pain-killers is no way to live. Western medicine told me that my condition was incurable, permanent. And who was going to argue with that, because there it was fully visible for anyone to see on my X-rays irreversible damage to neck and spine! But one day I "decided" that just because "western medicine" could not do anything to cure my condition, did NOT mean that it couldn't be "healed" by other means! Having grown up in the Christian religion, I had been taught, "With God, all things are possible". Maybe it was time that I put this statement to the test. And so I began to pray and ask God for guidance as to who and what could help me. And so began my own personal "Journey Into Wholeness", as I made the determination to heal myself. This "quest" led me to return to school, where I obtained a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, and discovered the Mind/Body connection. I began to explore, and study a wide variety of "energy healing"---from Crystal Healing to the ancient Japanese system of Jin Shin Jyutsu. I also traveled the United States and to other parts of the world to observe and study a broad range of "spiritual healing"---from Christian "faith healers", to "mediums" and "trance-channels", to the "miraculous cures" of the Avatar, Sathya Sai Baba in India, to "shamans" in North and South America, to "psychic surgeons" in Brazil. In the process of these years of study and exploration, which expanded my horizons regarding what is "possible" and what is "truth", I came to "discover" more and more of MYSELF! And through these "healing" modalities of Energy Healing and Spiritual Healing, which traditional Western Medicine now calls "Vibrational Medicine", "Alternative Medicine", and "Complementary Medicine", I COMPLETELY CURED MYSELF! Since 1989 my neck and spine are pain-free; I have never taken another pain pill (nor any other medication); no more trips to chiropractors and massage therapists in fact I have never been "sick" at all! So I AM my own "proof" that "energy healing" and "spiritual healing" WORK! They not only help one to discover the "truth of self", provide an experience of profound relaxation and peace, assist one to "heal" emotional traumas of the past, free one of fears and limitations, they also heal so-called "incurable" physical ailments.
